Step Four: The importance of Prayer and Trust

Step Four: The importance of Prayer and Trust

Good morning brethren,
We are now on our 4th step in our pilgrims journey to that High Place of which the saints of old sang and spoke about so often in their own travels, Mount Zion. This was the principal place, of which those who desired Rest and Solitude from the Pride and Contempt of the world sought to . We that have come to trust in God find that one of reasons why we love the fellowship of the Church and Communion of the Saints is because it takes our "Minds off" all the " Pressures" of the "Seeing and Hearing" of the "Unlawful Deeds " of this present evil world. As we leave Ps. 122 and the "fellowship of the congregation", The Spirit takes us to the next step in the "Degrees" of our journey ; The importance of "Prayer and Trust " in our daily lives. Psalms 123 is a Psalm of " Invocation". (A supplication of the Assistance or Presence of God for any situation.)
" Unto thee lift I up mine eyes,O thou that dwellest in the heavens. Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress;so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God, until that he have mercy upon us. Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us:for we are exceedingly filled with contempt. Our soul is exceedingly filledwith the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud." (Psalms 123)
We like the apostles have to be taught to "Pray" and patently wait upon God for his Mercies ". We have to learn to "Seek him" for his mercies on Day by Day basis. We are going to have to "Face the world" and it's contempt each and every day, therefore we are going to need the strength of "All Prayer" to keep us on the "Upward" way. "Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us" will be our cry, it doesn't end at our first coming to the Lord . It will be our frequent request, till we pass through the Gates of that City ! Jesus said to his disciples as he was preparing to leave them, " Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full." And, " At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God." (John 16:24, 26-27)
Brethren, we don't always have the fellowship and encouragement of the saints around to help us with our needs, but we Always have the Lord around and his Mercies are " Renewed every Morning", let us "Look unto Him" as a Servant and Maiden do the hands of their Mistress and Master. Let us Seek him as They, "Early" and "Often"
Lord bless you children
