Good morning brethren
I would like to draw our attention to Ecclesiastes 5:18-20 for our devotion this morning.
" Behold that which I have seen: it is good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him: for it is his portion. Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God. For he shall not much remember the days of his life; because God answereth him in the joy of his heart."
What a blessing it is to be gainfully employed, and by that I mean, having a job that one enjoys, and when "payday" comes, their is a portion beyond the debt ceiling. How grateful we need to be when God has provided us with a "Good" job ; one that not only "pays the bills", but also is not a drudgery to go back to the following week ! A man once said, "If you can find a job that you truely enjoy, you will never have to" work " a day in your life". But in the context of the verses we see another portion that brings joy to our labor, and that is when it's reward leaves us with a "portion" to rejoice in. It is great to have a job, but when it involves much labor and little rewards, it can add to the burden of life rather than the joys that hard work should provide. If you have a job that you enjoy, and provides not only the "necessities", but also leaves you with a portion to rejoice in, you truly are "gifted" by our Lord. Read verse 20 again and you can see how though you may have had to "work hard "all week long, when your" payday " finally comes, and it meets all (and sometimes more) your expectations; you forget all about how hard you had it, because the reward for it overshadowed the work ! That is a good job, and truly a gift of God. And Here is the Reason Why, because That is The Way God is to All of those who Serve Him. When you have a "Good" job like the one described here, God is showing you how He is going to be to you on Payday One Day.
" For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." (Rom. 8:18)
Some of you truly have a good job, and you should be so thankful for it and the ability to perform its requirements to have it. But brethren, let me remind you that God has called you to "Work" for him too. And no doubt, sometimes the work can be pretty demanding, but brethren, When he shall come to reward you for your faithfulness, you will Fully Understand the 20th verse of Ecc. 5, " For he shall not much remember the days of his life; because God answereth him in the joy of his heart."
Wait until you see your "Paychecks" for being Faithful to Him ! You're not going to ever mention how "rough" you had it Then !
Lord bless you children
Good morning brethren
